Studiolo keeps everything on your Mac. There is no account, no sync, and no analytics. We do not collect, receive, or store anything you save.

The app

Studiolo reads the folders you point it at, where they already are. The descriptions and notes you write are kept in a small plain text file inside each folder. Search, including search by meaning and by picture, runs on your Mac, so looking at an image never uploads it.

The one thing the app sends over the internet is a check for its own updates, to our update server. That check asks whether a newer version exists. It carries nothing from your library.

The browser extension

The extension acts only when you ask it to. When you click its button, it takes a picture of the page you are on, with the page's address and title. When you right-click an image and choose Save to Studiolo, it takes that image. It sends either one to the Studiolo app running on your own computer, at localhost, and to nowhere else.

It does not read pages you have not asked it to save, does not track where you browse, and does not send anything to us or to anyone else. It remembers one setting, the port the app is on, in your browser.

Your iPhone

If you set up Save to Studiolo on your iPhone, what you save travels through your own iCloud Drive to the Studiolo folder on your Mac. It never passes through us.

An AI assistant

If you connect an assistant to Studiolo, its MCP server runs on your Mac. What the assistant can see is whatever it asks Studiolo for while you use it, under that assistant's own privacy terms. Nothing is connected unless you set it up.
